Fall Is Here

Fall is here, and it brings a lot of fun activities. Days seem to be spent hiking, playing football, or soccer, biking, leaf jumping, pumpkin picking, and the list could go on and on. However, as with any Season or activity, there will always be risk for injury. Here’s a few tips to take care of your feet this fun season. Be sure to wear shoes that are comfortable and fit well. Has it been over a year since your last shoe purchase? If so, it could be time for a new pair. Yes ladies, I’m giving you permission to go shopping!  Buy your shoes at the end of the day, as that’s when your feet are the largest. Keep your feet moisturized, but not between the toes, fungus likes to grow in dark damp places. After hikes, playing sports, or anytime your feet become dirty or sweaty, change your socks and shoes. Always wear sandals in community showers to help prevent contracting fungus. For our diabetic patients, check your feet daily for redness, cuts, or sores that may not be healing. This could be the sign of an ulcer.

Aching feet are not normal, and should be checked by a physician. We are always here for you for any concerns or conditions you may have. We live in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina. Our backyard is a playground! Get out and enjoy yourself this Fall season!
